Scanned illustration

Here is my final illustration which I initially drew in pencil and then went over it in thick black pen to try and create as bold lines as possible to make it easier for me to alter and adjust when transferring the image to the computer.

I scanned the image to the computer and placed it in Illustrator to do the lines then in photoshop to fill in the colours.

* For some reason, tumblr would not let me upload the file after I tried several times and asked several people to help so I have included the scan in the blog folder as a JPEG*

1. FACE

I decided to start off with the face because even though it will be situated in the bottom corner I will try to make it a large focus of the poster by changing proportions and making it the biggest image compared to all the other images i will use.

I decided to just draw the girl’s face by hand and use simplified, bold lines to create the main features but then contrast this with more detailed, curvy lines for the girl’s hair.

To look for inspiration I came across some great pop art illustrations of women’s faces that were simple and bold and used multiple strong colours that would go well with the primary colours I plan to use for the images on the bottom corner of the poster.

LIST OF KEY ELEMENTS OF MY POSTER

4. Main title in ‘Pencil Stencil’ font with thick black outline and overlaying blue ‘highlight’ with jagged edges and lines around the lettering.

5. Other text: invitation and details of time and place used with same pencil stencil font made to look like a label—black and white, high contrast to match images of media equipment and tools.

6. Straight, angular lines, sharp edges, pointing in all directions across page.

7. Messy wires in colours to match overlaying shapes and lines.
